3D MODELS
3D models are created from elements of my artwork. I use a 3D Systems ProJet HD 3500. Normally this device is used to create highly accurate plastic prototypes for architectural, engineering and industrial design purposes. The accuracy is typically between 1 and 2 thousandths of an inch per inch of model, and fine details can be precisely reproduced.
The design software I use was never intended for 3D model output. I have developed a process that allows for the production of high quality artistic models. A typical 6.5" tall figure can cost $225 or more, depending on the complexity and detail of the final paint job. Of course, a custom designed art piece with exquisitely painted intricate details is unique, and therein lies its real value.
